Emeritus Prof. Jang Jeong-sik

Award-winning achievements

Professor Jeong-sik Jang has raised domestic polymer nanomaterials to an international level by conducting systematic research on the manufacturing of functional polymer nanomaterials.

He was the first in the world to develop an electronic nose, which selectively perceives aromatic compounds at the molecular level by combining the olfactory receptor of a human with a transducer in the smart sensor area, jointly with the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology and Korea Basic Science Institute. Recently, he also developed an electronic tongue. He presented the original research results, which attracted attention not only in Korea but also around the world.

Professor Jeong-sik Jang significantly contributed to developing the domestic nanomaterials industry with his leading research and excellent achievements in nano polymer materials. He is making continued efforts for academic advances at home and abroad.
