7th Korea Toray Science Foundation Awards
The 7th Korea Toray Science Foundation Awards were held at the Federation of Korean Industries Conference Center on Oct. 22 by the Korea Toray Science Foundation(KTSF).
At the ceremony attended by more than 180 winners, academics, industrial figures, and students, the Korea Toray Science and Technology Prize was won by Professor Lee Phil-ho of Kangwon University and Professor Choi Won-yong of KENKECH, and each received 100 million won in prize money.
In addition, Bae Han-yong, a professor at Sungkyunkwan University, Choi Jung-mo, a professor at Pusan National University, Kim Jung-min, a professor at Seoul National University, Kim Ho-beom, a professor at GIST, and Nam Dae-hyun, a professor at Korea University, won the Korea Toray Fellowship, and each will receive 150 million won in research funds for three years.
Following the award ceremony, Kim Tae-ho, a professor at Chonbuk National University's Institute of Korean Science and Literature, received a great response from the participants with a lecture on the theme "The History and Industry Development of Korean Science."
KTSF, established for the development of science and technology in Korea based on the corporate ideology of "contributing to society through new value creation," has selected 14 Science and Technology Prizes and 30 Fellowships so far this year, and is sponsoring scholarships to more than 200 science and engineering college students.
