Professor Jeongwon Park's research project is to establish a new paradigm synthesis method that synthesizes an ensemble with a uniform structure by controlling the formation mechanism of nanoparticles and applying it to solve the complex problem of nanoparticle synthesis. If single-crystalline or highly-entropic nanoparticles with a consistent structure are synthesized through Ab initio synthesis, they can be applied to synthesizing heterogeneous catalysts with high activity and controlled selectivity on a large batch scale.
In addition, the Ab initio synthes is approach, which utilizes the new platform to understand mechanisms in various fields and utilizes them to control synthesis, can be applied to multiple material syntheses.
This research has the potential to synthesize nanoparticles with uniformly controlled fine atomic structures, surface structures, and defects, such as alloy, core/shell, and semiconductor, and expand to other material systems. Both the analysis method development part and material synthesis research using Ab initio synthesis were evaluated as containing a new paradigm.
