  • Eligibility Can two teams also apply for joint research?

    Yes. Two or more teams may apply for joint research.
    For team research, the applicant must be the same as the principal researcher; the application shall not be submitted under participating researchers’ names. There are no special qualifications, including nationality, for participating researchers.
    However, applications may be submitted by one person in charge of research. After the research teams establish a plan for dividing the research funds, discuss the final draft with the foundation.

  • Eligibility Can foreign nationals living in Korea apply?

    No. Korea Toray Fellowship is given to Korean nationals only.

  • Eligibility I belong to a domestic university/research institution but am currently dispatched to an overseas university/research institution. Am I eligible to apply?

    No. Korea Toray Fellowship is only for those who belong to domestic universities or research institutions and are employed or work full-time at affiliated institutions.

  • Eligibility May I apply without being associated with an organization?

    Unfortunately, only those who belong to domestic universities and research institutes are eligible.

  • Eligibility Is there an age limit?

    There is no age limit; the fellowship is for those under ten years since obtaining a doctoral degree as of the date of the application.

  • Eligibility I received my Ph.D. degree from both domestic and overseas universities. Which date should I use as my Ph.D. acquisition date?

    Regardless of domestic or overseas universities, the acquisition date should be based on the period of obtaining the Ph.D. degree in related field.

  • Eligibility Can I apply as an individual rather than as a team?

    For individual research, the principal researcher may apply alone.

  • Eligibility Are there any special conditions for principal researcher who wants to apply?

    There are no special conditions. However, researchers who have violated research ethics in the past, such as fraudulent research funding, plagiarism, and fabrication of research results, are excluded from the application.

    The entire fund shall be refunded, if past cases are discovered during the fellowship period.

  • Eligibility What happens if the principal researcher changes his/her affiliation during the project?

    There is no particular change in the process of funding. However, since there may be changes in the implementation of the research project, please consult with the Foundation for more details.

  • Eligibility I am participating as a reviewer for another foundation. Am I eligible to apply?

    Yes. One may apply even when participating as a reviewer for another foundation.
